Happy Earth Day!

For 50 years Earth Day has been held on 22 April to express appreciation for the environment and the earth. The breeding of modern potato varieties also makes a contribution: In Europe, yields in potato production have clearly increased, so that more potatoes can be grown on the same area.  About 60 % of the increase in the European potato harvest is attributable to plant breeding.
